Also releases the Rams of the financial burden of having Goff which gets passed to Detroit.

That is a steal for Detroit.

If that's the going rate, no way Belichick pulls off a trade for a QB. It's either a less than top dollar free agent or the draft

What will the Texans get for Watson? A H Walker to the Vikings type deal?

Detroit did very well, but will still be an also ran as you know they will screw it up. Anybody who hires Anthony Lynn doesn't know very much about building a winning football team.

Horrible trade by the Rams. They sold their future in what is basically a lateral move. Stafford isn't going to take you any further than Goff. I think the Rams seem to forget that Goff took them to a Super Bowl. Stafford doesn't make the Rams a Super Bowl team again. If the Lions can get anything out of Goff they are ahead of the game with the two 1's and a 3.

Goff is dog shit.. Shit for shit trade. Detroit gets picks. Detroit eats that horrible contract. Detroit wins. Barely.

Love this deal from the Lions standpoint, Stafford was something like 5-50 vs winning teams and was not going to win in Det. Det got younger and acquired key picks for a rebuild. The Rams feel they are a SB contender, had to get better at QB, this might help get them over the top, maybe...

I can’t remember when detroit wasn’t rebuilding . Always been a stafford fan but moving to la is a death sentence. To bad Atlanta didn’t go after him .

This trade rivals the Hershell Walker trade that Minnesota made. Stafford makes bone head plays. He throws the ball right to the underneath LB at times. He fumbles. He takes sacks. I wouldn't have given DET not even a 3rd round pick for Stafford straight up.

At first glance, I thought this isn't even possible! But after giving it some thought, I think it's a very close deal. Stafford playing with a new coach and system. Goff needed all the players around him to be as good as he was. A push deal.

i don't get why not deshaun watson in this position if they are willing to give up that many picks. is it a contract / cap issue?

This was really a bad trade for the rams .
It probably makes them a better team for the next 16 games then it’s all downhill after that .

They sold out too much of their future for the next 16 games .

These are the kinds of assets you give up to get someone like Watson .
Not a guy who’s skill set is moving away from what the NFL is turning into .

The salary dump is not as big as you think. Goffs contract is not that much bigger then Staffords .

They have not had a first round pick since Jarret Goff and won’t have another one until at least 2023.

You just can’t go that long without high draft picks.

Sure this makes them better for the next 16 games but then after that it’s over .

And I still don’t consider the rams to be a legit Super Bowl contender .

Matthew Stafford has had a total of 9 100-yard rushers in his career. In those 9 games, Stafford is 8-1, hard to win with no running game. No 100 yard rushers since 2013.
